Give it a go

1. Draw one long, winding line across the paper. It can loop, bend or wander, but it does not need to represent anything yet.
2. Look at the spaces the line leaves behind. Choose one to become a place: perhaps a sleepy island, a rooftop garden or a very long kitchen.
3. Add three details that belong in that place. Someone can draw while someone else suggests what might be there.
4. Give the place an imaginary name and tell one short thing that happens there. Stop whenever the scene feels finished.

Make it yours

Prefer talking to drawing? The adult can make the line and draw suggestions as the group invents the place together. Nobody has to add words to the page.

When you’re finished

Set the drawing aside if you want to keep it, put the pencil away and return unused paper. No cutting or extra pieces are needed.
